Lost every Audi key?
No keys left for a flip-key Audi or a 2008 to 2018 slot-key car is usually a job we finish at the car. The immobilizer data is read, sometimes with a module taken out for a bench reading, a new key is programmed, and the lost keys are erased at no charge. It adds $60 and requires proof of ownership: an ID matching the name on the registration or title.
The 2017 and newer cars are the exception worth hearing early. With a working key, a spare is often a longer visit at the car. With every key gone, some of them need a key or a control module ordered from Audi against the VIN, and that part of the job runs through the dealer.
What the dealer charges, and why
An Audi service department usually orders the key from Audi with your VIN, waits one to three days for it, then activates it with the factory tool over an online connection to Audi. The total comes to about $340 for a flip key and $680 for a slot or keyless key before tax.
Our price includes the drive, whether the car is in a garage in Carlsbad or an office lot off the 56. No tow, no loaner, and you pay when the key starts the car.
Two things we say on the phone first
If your Audi is one of the newer cars where the dealer is the realistic route, we say so on the first call and tell you what the service desk will ask for. You skip a locksmith visit that would end with the car still parked.
The second thing we mention: an Audi key bought online is often a used one, already programmed to another car, and most of those refuse a second one. Send us a photo of the key or listing before you order, and you get a yes or no.
