Infiniti Car Key Replacement in San Diego

An Infiniti Intelligent Key is $279 at your car, about half the $560 a dealer typically quotes. Chip keys for the G35 and other older models start at $145.

From the late 2000s on, most Infinitis start with a button, and Infiniti calls the fob an Intelligent Key. We cut its hidden blade and program it at your car, following the same Nissan-family procedure the dealer uses.

Infiniti is Nissan's luxury brand, and the keys show it: chips, blades and programming come from one family, which is why the Nissan key page reads like a cousin of this one. The Infiniti fob shells and buttons differ, and so does the dealer's price.

Our price covers the fob, its emergency blade, programming and the trip to you, with a one-year warranty on all of it. Payment, card or cash, happens after the engine starts on the new key.

Which Infiniti key do you have?

A metal key and a separate remote

This is the chip key on a 2003 to 2006 G35 sedan, the G35 coupe through 2007 and early FX models without the Intelligent Key. The chip, usually a Philips 46, hides in the black head, and the remote is separate. We cut the blade by code and program the chip for $145, and we pair a replacement remote you already own for $79 to $119.

A start button and an Intelligent Key

The G35 sedan from 2007, every G37, the Q50 and Q60, the QX60 and the JX35 before it, and the QX56 and QX80 all use one. Slide the latch on the fob and a thin metal blade comes out for the driver's door. We cut that blade by code with every fob, so the backup works from the first day.

Same model name, different fob

Infiniti changed fobs partway through a model's life more than once. A 2014 Q50 and a 2021 Q50 take different fobs, and the redesigned 2022 QX60 takes a different fob from the earlier QX60. Two fobs sold for the same model can be different parts, so we go by your VIN rather than a photo of the old fob.

Lost every Infiniti key?

With every key gone, we cut the emergency blade from the VIN key code, get the security PIN the car demands before it opens key registration, and register a new Intelligent Key at the car. Add $60: a Q50 or QX60 with no key left comes to $339, and a G35 chip key to $205.

On most Infinitis, registration clears any key not present when the new one goes in. On a lost-keys job that works in your favor, because the missing fob is locked out as part of the process at no extra charge.

What the dealer charges, and why

Infiniti dealers typically quote about $560 for an Intelligent Key with programming and about $270 for an older chip key, before tax. If the car has no working key, towing it there runs $125 to $200, and an ordered fob means a wait of one to three days.

We buy fobs direct, cut blades in the van and program on site, so no showroom cost sits in our price. A written dealer quote is welcome on our beat my dealer quote page.

Two things we say on the phone first

Bring every Infiniti key you still have to the appointment, including the spare in the kitchen drawer you think is dead. Because registration on most models wipes any key not present, a spare left at home will likely stop working once we program the new one, and we would rather register it now than have you call us back for it.

Infiniti key questions

What does a replacement Infiniti Intelligent Key cost?

$279 at your car, or $339 with no key left to copy, emergency blade and programming included. An Infiniti dealer's usual quote is about $560 for that fob programmed, before tax, with towing on top when there is no key to drive it in. The one-year warranty covers the fob and the programming.

Why do you want every key I own at the appointment?

Because on most Infinitis, registration clears any key missing from the car while the new one is programmed. Keys you bring are registered again alongside the new fob in the same session; keys left at home stop working. If you would rather retire an old fob, leave it out of the session and it stops starting the car.

What does a spare key for a G35 cost?

A chip key for a 2003 to 2006 G35 sedan, or a G35 coupe through 2007, is $145 at the car against about $270 at the dealer. A 2007 or 2008 G35 sedan with push-button start takes an Intelligent Key instead, which is $279. Your VIN tells us which one you have.

Why does the car need a PIN before it takes a new key?

It is Infiniti's gatekeeper: key registration stays locked until the car receives a security code tied to that car, usually through its body computer. On most models we get that code at the car with our programming tool as part of the standard price, so you do not need to hunt for it or call the dealer.

Does the dealer do anything different when programming an Infiniti key?

The steps are the same: cut the blade, get the security code, register the new fob and any keys present. The dealer does it in a service bay after you get the car there. We do it in your driveway or parking space, in one visit, and the price covers travel anywhere in the county.

How do I get into my Q50 if the fob battery dies?

Use the metal blade hidden in the fob. Slide the latch, pull the blade out, and it turns the driver's door lock. Every Intelligent Key we deliver includes that blade, cut by code for your door, and we test it in the lock before we go, so the backup is proven, not assumed.
